Day 15 - A New (Awesome) Place to Play!! (and a new not awesom trip to the animal hospital)

Tonight after work, Quinn, Charlie & I loaded up the car and once again set off towards Nebraska, but this time our final destination was different . . .

My parents recently bought a cabin on a lake and it is actually about 30 minutes closer to us then going all the way to their house (yippee)! All of my family was there when we got there to celebrate my sister Janelle & her husband Nate's birthdays!

Here's the wintery view from the lake-side of the cabin

I was really looking forward to being there for all the fun. We started off with a delicious taco bar and just as the fun was getting started our dog Charlie got into some mouse poison. We were commenting how Charlie was the first dog at the new cabin (and we unfortunately learned shortly after that - that it had not been doggy-proofed yet) then my mom realized he was getting into the poison.

We noticed immediately and he only got a small amount, but for our 28-lb dog a little bit was still pretty scary. After trying to find & try some home remedies we finally ended up taking him on our first trip to an Animal Hospital in Plattsmouth, about 25 minutes away from where we were. The whole situation was pretty scary & frustrating, but luckily for us the vet working that night (it was almost 10 P.M. once we got there) was wonderful! It is amazing how working with a nice person can turn a whole situation around.

Charlie was pretty loopy when we got him back to the cabin, but after a good nights rest he was back to usually and full of energy the next morning!

We missed the s'mores and gift opening but had blast playing Taboo and some late night Mario on the Wii. After all the chaos we had a wonderful, relaxing evening.

Other Firsts: Remember the gyros from earlier this week - well as usually I made enough for about 12 people so I decided to make a dip out of the left overs. Gyro dip with pita chips ;) I just made the recipe up but it turned out great and we brought it to the cabin and it was the perfect late-night snack.
